A 19-year old man was jailed Wednesday for possession of a stolen vehicle, following a police chase.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said about 6:00 p.m. a deputy saw a sedan stopped at the corner of Grange Road and Highway 99, and knew it was stolen. The deputy attempted to turn his patrol vehicle around and stop it, but the suspect allegedly took off across Highway 99 towards Rolling Hills at a high rate of speed. Bystanders reported the vehicle had headed down Harmony.
The report said the deputy spotted the sedan, which was unoccupied. K9 Zoro was deployed as 19-year old Austen Ward came out of a residence and admitted that he had been driving the vehicle. A woman also came out and said she had been the passenger.
Ward was also charged for reckless driving and reckless endangering. He was released from custody on Thursday morning.
