SAVING GRACE RE-OPENS FOR ADOPTION BY APPOINTMENT

March 27, 2020 3:30 a.m.
After temporarily closing to the public on Saturday March 21st, Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center is now re-open on a limited basis for pet adoptions.
Executive Director Wendy Kang said instead of coming into the center to look for a pet, those considering adoption are asked to view the pets available at www.savinggrace.info. Kang said after that, residents should call to talk with staff to help see if the particular animal might be a good match. An appointment will then be set up to meet the pet and hopefully finalize the adoption. Kang said the appointments are designed to minimize the number of people at the shelter at any given time. Dogs will be brought out to the parking lot for scheduled introductions while cats and other small animals will be introduced at an isolated area inside the shelter that has been set up for that purpose.
Kang said Saving Grace is taking additional steps in response to COVID-19 to protect both animals and humans. Increased cleaning and sanitizing protocols are in place. In adherence with the best practices established for animal shelters nationwide, admissions to Saving Grace are currently limited to animal control services and emergencies. Emergencies include stray, sick or injured animals, or animals that are victims of abuse and neglect. Kang said owners who wish to surrender their pet should continue to care for the animal until normal operations can be resumed.
Saving Grace is calling for more volunteers to foster pets. Kang said every animal that is in a foster home, opens up space at the shelter so another animal can be helped.
