During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fish Food Pantry in Roseburg is continuing to provide emergency groceries to low-income families that are food insecure.
A release said the pantry has made changes in how the food goes out. Clients are now being given food boxes instead of being able to do their own grocery shopping inside the pantry. Only volunteers and staff are allowed inside the pantry at this time. Emergency food boxes are available on Monday and Wednesday afternoons form 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and on Thursday and Friday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The Roseburg Food Project collection of green bags of donated food scheduled for April has been cancelled. However, the pantry still needs to provide food for those in need. FISH is encouraging regular Food Project donors to make monetary donations instead in the amount they might have spent filling the green shopping bag. Those donated funds will allow FISH to purchase food through its normal wholesale and other local sources. The Food Project hopes to resume the green bag collection of donated food on June 13th.
Residents can send a check directly to the FISH of Roseburg at P.O. Box 1162, in Roseburg, 97470. Donations can also be made through PayPal using a credit card. This can be done by going to: https://www.fishofroseburg.org/services.php.
