In an effort to support the community in the face of the COVID-19 situation, Roseburg Public Schools has donated a large portion of the district’s face mask supply to CHI Mercy Health and the Mercy Foundation.
An update from RPS, said with school board approval, the district provided 2,000 medical-grade masks to the foundation last week. Health care agencies across the country face a shortage of vital supplies needed to curb the COVID-19 outbreak, and local government and health authorities are seeking out extra supplies.
Superintendent Jared Cordon said the districts keeps face masks on hand for situations which involve potential illnesses of students and staff throughout the school year. He said “with schools closed for an extended period of time, we believe filling the immediate and critical need of health care workers was the right thing to do to protect our students, families and community”.
