ROSEBURG PUBLIC SCHOOLS UPDATES STUDENTS AND FAMILIES

March 23, 2020 3:45 a.m.
Roseburg Public Schools has updated students and families as they work through providing services during the COVID-19 situation.
An email sent to parents addressed a number of areas:
*Regarding meals, grab-and-go breakfast and lunch options are available to anyone up to age 18 at all elementary schools, the middle schools, and at Roseburg High Monday through Friday throughout the time that schools are closed. The Lunch Box Express meal deliveries to neighborhood sites will continue through March 31st.
Starting on Monday March 30th, meal deliveries will begin to neighborhoods via buses on a modified bus route. Children sand families can arrive at a scheduled stop and receive a grab-and-go meal, which will include both a lunch for that day and a breakfast for the following morning. Meal delivery route information is posted at www.roseburg.k12.or.us.
*Staff will return to work the week of March 30th and will begin to connect with students via phone calls or online forms, depending on students’ access to technology. Teachers will plan to check in with families at least once a week. District emails have been created for students to allow them to more easily communicate with teachers. Teachers will assist students and families with the sign-up process.
Learning activities will be available that students can participate in. They will not be graded and do not need to be turned in. The exception may be high school students, as the district is waiting for guidance from the Oregon Department of Education regarding high school credit requirements.
*As teachers check in with families, they will help determine who needs access to technology and the internet. The district will lend Chromebooks to families who would like online learning in their child’s routine. Teachers will facilitate the process for signing out the Chromebooks. Lists of resources and activities will be provided with meal delivery for families unable to access technology.
