An update from the Douglas County Commissioners and the Douglas Public Health Network said there are a number of ways residents can help others as the nation grapples with the COVID-19 situation.
Opportunities include:
*Volunteering or donating something to help Douglas County Community Organizations Active in Disaster: COAD is currently assisting isolated senior citizens and other that are at-risk for the virus. They are seeking volunteers to help with delivering food, medicine and hygiene supplies in the area.
*Volunteer at local Senior Dining Sites: The centers located around the county are in need of volunteers to staff the kitchen, do meal preparation, deliver meals and help with curbside service.
*Provide daycare, elder care or childcare relief: Many families and individuals are struggling to find these services so they can work, go to appointments or run errands.
*Support local restaurants and other businesses: The release said they have been severely impacted by new statewide measures.
*Neighbor Check-10: Set a goal of checking in with 10 neighbors or friends every few days and encourage others to do the same. Offer to pick up groceries, run errands or deliver a hot meal.
