Staff with the Roseburg Fire Department will begin its annual flushing of fire hydrants on April 1st. It will continue through June 30th and will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. seven days a week.
Fire Chief Gary Garrisi said the department realizes that hydrant flushing may cause some inconvenience. He said it is necessary to ensure proper functioning and delivery of adequate water from the water mains when they are needed for fire control.
The RFD release said during the flushing process, customers may experience low water pressure or discolored water. While the water is safe to drink, customers may prefer to wait until it runs clear before drinking, or washing clothes and dishes.
