To mitigate concerns over the spread of COVID-19, the City of Roseburg is closing the Roseburg Public Library, beginning on Sunday.
Communications Specialist Eric Johnson said the library will be open as normal on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. That will give families an opportunity to check-out books as a longer than normal spring break begins for area schools. Johnson said library staff will report to work as normal, but the facility will remain closed to the public until April 1st.
While the closure is in effect, patrons can use electronic methods to access the library’s catalogue of materials, which include CloudLibrary and Overdrive. To access the online materials, go to https://roseburg.biblionix.com/catalog/.
Roseburg City Hall and the Public Safety Center will remain open to provide essential services to citizens. Starting Monday, both facilities will close at 4:30 p.m. each weekday. Johnson said staff will perform deep cleaning of office equipment and work areas during the last half hour of the day.
City Manager Nikki Messenger said “we understand that the health and safety of our citizens is a top priority”. She said that is why they are taking precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Messenger said, “we ask all our citizens to be safe, avoid large crowds, and wash your hands often”.
