A Winston man was hospitalized after the log truck he was driving wrecked on Wednesday morning.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at 9:40 a.m. the 56-year old was driving down Reston Road towards Highway 42. The man said he was taking a drink of water when he started choking due to the water “going down the wrong pipe”.
The man put his foot on the brake and the next thing he knew he was waking up with the truck on its side, according to the report. The driver said he was not driving too fast and was not wearing a seat belt.
The logging company came to the scene, picked up the logs and got the vehicle towed. The driver was transported to Mercy Medical Center. He was listed in fair condition at last check, according to a hospital spokesperson.
