FEED THE NEED EVENT IS FRIDAY

February 26, 2020 10:00 a.m.
Students from Geneva Academy will pack and seal 10,000 meals for hungry children on Friday.
The Feed the Need event will take place at the school’s campus at 2152 Northeast Vine Street in Roseburg.
A release from Geneva, said their school board intentionally chose to organize a serve-a-thon style fundraising event with a give-back of the meals because they want their students to understand the impact of serving others and the joy of giving.
Rather than asking Geneva students to sell candy, cookies or similar items, the students have been asking personal sponsors to support the service project. Most of the meals will be going to orphanages and schools in hurricane-ravaged Haiti. 1,500 of the meals will be donated to five local organizations serving Douglas County: the FISH Food Pantry, Salvation Army, Casa de Belen, Safe Haven Maternity Home and the Roseburg Dream Center.
Packing begins at 8:30 am. and is expected to conclude by 12:30 p.m.
Headmaster Brian Turner and others from Geneva Academy talked about Feed the Need on the Morning Conversation Wednesday on News Radio 1240 KQEN. That interview is a KQEN podcast at www.541radio.com.
