A 39-year old man was hospitalized after an accident Wednesday night.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 7:00 p.m. the man drove off the roadway and struck a tree in the 2500 block of Canyonville-Riddle Road. The vehicle caught fire and a passer by pulled the driver out of the vehicle. The report said the man was “very” under the influence of drugs and said that he had a female passenger with him. Deputies, fire personnel and K-9 Grim searched the area but could not locate anyone. The report said it was determined that the reported passenger was part of the driver’s apparent “meth psychosis”.
The man was taken to Mercy Medical Center for injuries including a broken arm and leg. He was later taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield for further treatment.
