A 30-year old man was rescued then taken to jail on Tuesday night.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 7:30 p.m. Search and Rescue responded to a call that a man was at the bottom of a steep embankment and was trapped on the river’s edge on the Umpqua River at Tyee.
Undersheriff Jeff Frieze said the man had been on a boat with others in the area, but had been left on the bank for unknown reasons.
After the man was helped out of the area, a check revealed that there was a warrant out for his arrest, out of Canyonville Justice Court. He was detained but was released from custody on Wednesday.
