February 20, 2020 9:50 a.m.
A Roseburg man was cited for reckless driving on Wednesday morning.
A report from Roseburg Police said just before 9:00 a.m. a 25-year old man was traveling west on Harvard and made a u-turn as he passed under the freeway. The driver did not realize there was a passenger car in the turn lane next to him as he made his turn. When he saw the other vehicle, he accelerated and lost control.
The report said the man went up over the sidewalk, onto the concrete embankment under the freeway where he nearly struck one of the overpass pilings. The vehicle continued east and struck the blunt end of a small retaining wall causing major damage to the front end and suspension, along with breaking apart his left front wheel. The vehicle continued off the retained shrubbery area and landed in an eastbound lane of Harvard.
The driver was not injured. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
