A Roseburg man was cited for reckless driving following an accident on Friday afternoon.
Information from the Roseburg Police said at about 4:15 p.m. witnesses reported that a pickup was stopped at the intersection of Northeast Garden Valley and Northeast Stephens, with the driver asleep at the wheel. Several minutes later, a separate call came in regarding a single vehicle accident involving a pickup that had gone over the embankment on Pine Street just past the intersection with Rice.
The report said when officers arrived on the scene, the driver was being extricated from his vehicle. The 54-year old man was taken to Mercy Medical Center where he was treated and released for minor injuries.
During the investigation it was discovered that the man had been driving with very little sleep since the previous day and also had several distractions in his vehicle that most likely contributed to the wreck. The pickup had to be towed from the scene.
