In the KQEN Business Spotlight, Backside Brewing will open a new location in Sutherlin.
A release from the City of Sutherlin said owners K.C. and Savannah Mckillip formalized a lease agreement on Friday for a building at 105 West Central, which at one time was the location for Fusion Restaurant.
The release said after meeting with City Manager Jerry Gillham, Mckillip said he was sold on the idea of opening another brew pub at this location. Mckillip said “the new Urban Renewal District’s proposed project fit perfectly with our vision of establishing another brew pub outlet in Douglas County”. He said he definitely wants to be a part of the future of downtown Sutherlin.
Mayor Todd McKnight said the mission of the city is to transform not only the image of Sutherlin but also create economic growth and long-term vitality. McKnight said this is the first of hopefully a number of new businesses coming to downtown Sutherlin due to Urban Renewal efforts
