A Winchester Bay teen was arrested Thursday night, accused of discharging a weapon inside a home after an assault.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at approximately 9:15 p.m. deputies were sent to a residence in the 73,000 block of Highway 101.
O’Dell said multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the scene. The 17-year old male was taken into custody just before 10:00 p.m.
The report said the teen became upset with his mother over his cell phone and then proceeded to assault her, before being stopped by his father. Following that assault, the teen retrieved an AR-15 rifle and began to fire it multiple times inside the home, causing a significant amount of damage. The report said at one point he pointed the firearm at his father, but did not fire it.
No one was injured in the incident. The teen was taken to the Douglas County Juvenile Detention Facility and charged with: unlawful use of a weapon, pointing a firearm at another, first degree criminal mischief, two counts of menacing, and for fourth degree assault.
