A Canyonville woman was jailed after a wreck in Winston Tuesday afternoon.
Information from the Winston Police said just after 3:30 p.m. they received several calls reporting a possibly intoxicated driver in an SUV. Earlier reports said the vehicle was blocking traffic near Lookingglass Road and Cary Street and that there was an unrestrained child in the vehicle.
The release said WPD received updated information that the vehicle had rear ended a pickup at the corner of Lookingglass and Abraham. Reports said the suspected driver left the scene at a high rate of speed and was last seen going towards Douglas Boulevard.
Winston Police officers located the SUV with a female driver on Douglas Boulevard near Rose Street. The report said the vehicle had crashed into the concrete sidewalk on Douglas, in front of Grocery Outlet.
The driver, identified as 45-year old Kharisma Johnson, sustained minor cuts and rashes from the air bags being deployed. The five-year old child received minor bumps and bruises. It was confirmed that the child was not buckled in her car seat, according to the report.
Both occupants were taken to Mercy Medical Center where they were treated and released. Johnson was then taken into custody for reckless driving, reckless endangering, three counts of failure to perform the duties of a driver when property is damaged, and for DUII. She was released from custody on Wednesday.
