A Redmond teen was rescued at Toketee Falls on Sunday.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 2:30 p.m. 911 dispatchers received a report that a 17-year old had fallen one hundred feet from Toketee Falls.
O’Dell said emergency crews were dispatched to the area and determined that the teen had crossed over the safety railing and had fallen approximately ten feet before sliding approximately twenty feet and then stopping. The teen suffered only minor injuries. Rescue crews were able to safely assist him back to the trail where he walked to the parking lot on his own.
O’Dell said the victim was transported to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance for evaluation.
DCSO was assisted by Douglas County Search and Rescue and several other agencies.
O’Dell said DCSO urges individuals to stay within the safety railings when hiking into the falls. Crossing the railings has previously resulted in serious injuries and even death.
