A 42-year old Reedsport man was jailed on weapons and menacing charges on Friday.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said last Wednesday at 5:00 a.m. a female victim came home with a male friend, who is also a friend of the suspect, who lives next door. The incident took place at the Oregon Coast RV Park in Reedsport.
The report said while the two were in the trailer of the female victim, the suspect allegedly entered and threatened both victims with a fixed blade knife. When he exited the trailer, he used the knife on the screen door and reportedly broke out the door window. The suspect then allegedly threatened both the victims, saying he was going to blow them up with dynamite. The man was carrying a lighter and had an unknown item in his hand.
The report said the victims fled the scene and went to a nearby store to use a phone and call authorities for help.
A deputy went to the suspects RV and determined that the man had left the area.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell said John Skallerud was arrested on Friday. He was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, and for both menacing and domestic menacing. He was initially detained on $112,500 bail. O’Dell said the time and location of the man’s arrest was not available.
