Pacific Power will match every dollar that customers donate to the Oregon Energy Fund with $2 more.
Tom Gauntt of the utility said customers who receive their bills by mail this month will find it includes an Oregon Energy Fund contribution envelope. Gaunt said customers who pay their bills electronically can send a check or enroll in a fixed donation program. He said that allows customers to donate any dollar amount, starting at $1 per month, which is then incorporated into their monthly bill. Fixed donations will also be matched 2-for-1 by Pacific Power.
The Pacific Power release said the Oregon Energy Fund is the state’s leading energy assistance nonprofit. Founded in 1989, OEF has helped more than 300,000 Oregonians pay their monthly energy bills in times of crisis. Last year, donations from Pacific Power’s customers, employees and corporate branch, helped support 589 households throughout Oregon.
The Oregon Energy Fund verifies eligibility and allocates funds to those in need. All funds donated are used to assist families in need, in the same county where the donor lives.
