Construction has been completed on the new restrooms at Ben Irving County Park.
A release from the Board of Commissioners office said work included a boat ramp vault restroom, and a remodeled day use area restroom.
The release said using a Marine Board Grant, the Douglas County Parks Department was able to replace a 37-year old vault restroom adjacent to the boat ramp at the park, with a new facility. The old restroom had been partially closed last year due to the need for major repair work. The newly installed vault restroom features two handicap-unisex accessible units. Additionally, the Parks Department, included the remodel of the day use restroom facility at the same time, in order to improve the accessibility of the restroom facilities for all users.
Parks Director Rocky Houston said “Ben Irving is a popular year-round park”. He said the department is thankful for the grant and for being able “to improve these valuable assets for current and future park users”.
Ben Irving County Park is on Highway 42, near Tenmile, about fifteen miles west of Winston. The park is open seven days a week from sunrise to sunset. It features a boat ramp, swim area and day use park with swings, sand volleyball and picnic amenities. The release said the reservoir is a popular fishing and recreational boating destination.
