Tickets are still available for Battered Person’s Advocacy 9th annual Gala and Dance Competition on February 22nd.
The event is held at Seven Feathers Casino Resort in Canyonville.
The evening includes dinner and dancing and runs from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The gala features community members dancing on-stage to several different genres of music. Some of the monies raised go to the overall support of BPA. A special Paddle Raise event has the goal of raising $40,000 to kick off a capital campaign to purchase a building that will house survivors of violence and help them address barriers and become independent through case management and supportive services. Tickets for the over-21 gala are $75.
The week before the gala, BPA also has a Premier Night where residents can see the dancers onstage in the Jacoby Auditorium at Umpqua Community College. The cost for that event is $10 for adults and $5 for children and UCC students.

BPA Executive Director Melanie Prummer and board member and dancer Celeste Huffaker were on Inside Douglas County Monday on News Radio 1240 KQEN talking about the events, and the work of the non-profit organization. That interview is a KQEN podcast at www.541radio.com
