A Hillsboro man was jailed following a police pursuit and a lengthy search on Thursday morning.
Captain Kurt Sorenson of the Sutherlin Police said at about 6:40 a.m. dispatchers received reports of a pickup with Arizona plates traveling north of Roseburg on Interstate Five at speeds above 100 miles per hour, weaving in and out of traffic and almost causing an accident.
Sorensen said an officer found the pickup traveling on the freeway in the Sutherlin area and attempted to catch up to it. The vehicle took an exit in the Metz Hill area and then traveled north on Cabin Creek. Officers ultimately found the vehicle parked in front of a residence on Cabin Creek. A subject ran from the vehicle when it was found. Multiple police agencies responded to assist, including a K9 tracking dog from the Roseburg Police.
The suspect, identified as 32-year old Michael McDonald, was finally located at about 9:45 a.m. He had a state-wide felony warrant out of the State Parole Board. He was held for the warrant along with charges of felony attempting to elude police, and for reckless driving. He was detained without bail.
