A 27-year old man was jailed on assault and harassment charges by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday.
A DCSO report said deputies were called to a home on Adams Street in the Myrtle Creek area at about 11:20 p.m. The suspect, Bobby Claunch, was allegedly intoxicated and attacked another man at the residence. A third person tried to break up the incident, but she was reportedly grabbed by the throat and pushed, causing her to hit her head. The report said Claunch punched the other man in the head numerous times.
The suspect and a woman put their children into a vehicle and left the residence. They were stopped near the Myrtle Creek exit of the freeway. Claunch was charged with two counts each of fourth degree assault and harassment. He was initially detained on $105,000 bail.
The woman was arrested as well, but no information was listed regarding her charges. Staff with the Department of Human Services were contacted and picked up the children.
