Douglas County is updating its Wildfire Protection Plan and open houses continue.
Information from the Planning Department, said a CWPP is a plan developed collaboratively that identifies wildland fire hazards, prioritizes measures to reduce those hazards and recommend ways for homeowners and communities to reduce ignitability of structures in areas identified as wildland urban interface.
As part of the update, Douglas County Planning will collaborate with homeowners, fire departments, state and local officials and other agencies to address the needs of the community, inform decision-makers, and guide interventions that protect life, property and infrastructure from wildfire, according to information from the department.
An open house is being held Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. at Winston City Hall. Another will take place on Tuesday January 28th at the Yoncalla Community Center.
A new plan is scheduled to be adopted in June.
