A Tenmile man was jailed Sunday, for having stolen vehicles.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said just after 2:00 pm. a deputy was taking a report regarding a burglary in the 300 block of Moonlight Lane in the Canyonville area. The victim said that someone had taken propane heaters, a painter sprayer, a chop saw and numerous other items. Whoever entered the residence also left behind opened food containers and cigarette butts inside. They were collected by the deputy.
The report said the victims mentioned the name of a man who had been on the property previously and had shown interest in a pickup that had been stolen in December.
The deputy went to the property of the suspect in Canyonville and immediately saw two stolen vehicles, including the pickup and a sedan.
53-year old Jerry Hawkins was charged with two counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was initially detained on $100,000 bail and was released from custody on Tuesday.
