The 50th annual Greatest of the Grape event is only two months away.
Presented by the Umpqua Valley Winegrowers Association, the event was the first of its kind when it began, providing an evening where local fine wine was available for tasting, paired with food prepared by local restaurants and caterers. It was originally held at the Umpqua Hotel in downtown Roseburg.
It is now one of the premier wine tasting events in Oregon.
Greatest of the Grape will be held March 21st in Douglas Hall at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. VIP ticket holders get in at 6:00 p.m. with general admission tickets giving admission at 7:00 p.m. VIP tickets are currently $115 per person while general admission is $90. The cost of both types of tickets will go up by $10 starting February first.
This year’s theme is “Puttin on the Ritz” and live music will be provided. Awards will be given for best wine, best food and best wine and food pairing.
Tickets are available at Abacela Winery, Melrose Vineyards, or Trella Vineyards. They can also be purchased by going to www.umpquavalleywineries.org.
