Approximately 1,000 more customers of Pacific Power in the Grants Pass area got their power restored on Sunday night.
An update from the utility said that leaves around 500 customers still without power following Thursday’s storm.
Crews made further progress late Sunday clearing downed trees and making repairs. Damage from last week’s storm left over 18,000 customers without service at its peak,
The release said more progress is expected as Monday goes on. The remaining pockets of outages are spread out from an area north of Grants Pass to south of Cave Junction, concentrated on the west side of Josephine County. Similar to previous days, work is taking place in difficult to reach, remote areas.
Estimates put full restoration by the end of Tuesday or possibly on Wednesday for some individual customers with a large majority of the remaining customers impacted by outage having service returned by late Monday evening.
David Lucas, vice president of transmission and distribution said “we are thankful for our customer’s patience and understanding as our crews and contract personnel made steady progress over the past few days to restore service”.
Customers can report outages by calling 1-877-508-5088 or by texting OUT to 722797. The status of an outage can be checked on by texting STAT to that same number.
