Sherm’s Thunderbird Market will donate a semi-truck load of food to the food bank program of the United Community Action Network on Friday.
Sarah McGregor of the UCAN Food Bank said Steve Olsrud, who owners the store with his wife Wanda, will accompany one of their semi-trucks as they continue their annual tradition of donating a trailer of food, weighing up to 30,000 pounds, to the Roseburg non-profit.
McGregor called it “an amazing tradition” and said it began in 2006. Since then, over 360,000 pounds of food have been donated. She said that “Sherm’s has been such an incredible partner to fight hunger”. McGregor said the donation will provide food to the network of 17 emergency food pantries throughout Douglas County.
