Staff with the Diamond Lake Ranger District have announced closures that they believe will provide safety as residents enjoy the outdoors this winter.
Mark Turney said the area north of Mount Bailey is now closed to motorized vehicles to allow skiers to enjoy downhill runs. An unmarked, nordic trail edges the northern boundary of the area closure.
Turney said snowmobilers are reminded that the trail leading to the Hemlock Butte Ski Cabin from the Bailey Connect Trail is now off-limits to motorized use.
The release from the Umpqua National Forest said winter trails and the area closed to travel by snowmobile are identified on the Diamond Lake Winter Recreation map, offered for sale at the Umpqua National Forest offices.
