WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA ON SATURDAY

December 13, 2019 11:00 a.m. (updated 12/13 1:20 p.m.)
Roseburg National Cemetery will host Wreaths Across America on Saturday.
The annual holiday wreath laying ceremony is held to honor and remember the nation’s veterans. Patriot Guard riders and volunteers are coordinating the event to honor veterans from each branch of the military along with the Merchant Marine, Prisoners of War and those who are Missing in Action.
Wreaths Across America began when the Worchester Wreath Company began donating holiday wreaths in tribute to veterans laid to rest at VA national cemeteries and state veteran’s cemeteries in 2006.
The event will be held at 12:00 p.m. at the Roseburg National Cemetery Annex on the grounds of the Roseburg VA.
Linda Mooney and Christy Mooney talked about the event on Inside Douglas County Friday on News Radio 1240 KQEN. They said help is needed starting Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. to put out over 1,400 wreaths. That number compares to the 60 that were placed last year. Those wanting to help can come to the Cemetery Annex and assist with the project.
