MAN JAILED AFTER THROWN ROCK CAUSES DAMAGE

A Roseburg man was jailed after a rock he allegedly threw caused damage in downtown Roseburg on Thursday afternoon.
Information from Roseburg Police said at about 1:20 p.m. 36-year old Stephen Bates reportedly threw the large rock into the side of a vehicle parked in the 600 block of Southeast Jackson. Over $1,000 in damage resulted from the incident according to the report. When arrested, Bates was found to not be in compliance with his sex offender registration.
Charges include first degree criminal mischief, second degree disorderly conduct and for failure to register as a sex offender. He was initially detained on $65,000 bail.
