5TH GRADE ROBOTICS COMPETITION AT HUCREST ELEMENTARY

December 12, 2019 3:55 a.m.
The first fifth grade robotics competition will be held next Tuesday at Hucrest Elementary.
Teacher Emily Veale said the event is coming to Hucrest thanks to Ira Wier, a Roseburg High School Science teacher and Robotics Club advisor. Veale said through Wier’s vision to bring science exploration to more students and partnership opportunities between schools, Weir will bring his enthusiasm for robotics and student learning to 28 elementary students and will continue with two more fifth grade classes at Hucrest in 2020.
The RHS Aries Robotics Team includes student members who have given extra time and their expertise to facilitate the exploration of robotics for elementary students. Veale said many of the Hucrest students have never worked on this type of STEM project before. Students who have had three learning sessions will be celebrated on December 17th.
The event will begin at 2:15 p.m. in room 15 at Hucrest Elementary.
