A two-vehicle wreck sent an SUV into a power pole and resulted in the closure of a two-block section of West Harvard Avenue for over three hours Sunday afternoon.
Information from Roseburg Police said at 12:30 p.m. a 20-year old woman was driving east on Harvard. A 44-year old woman was stopped at the stop sign on West Union. The second driver failed to see the first vehicle and pulled out on Harvard, causing the collision. The first vehicle hit the pole, breaking it into two pieces and causing a power outage in parts of the area. The occupants of both vehicles were transported to Mercy Medical Center via ambulance for complaints of pain, according to the report.
With the pole leaning, partially held up by the SUV, police directed traffic around the area until a Pacific Power vehicle could put a clamp on the pole to hold it in place until a crew could install a new one. West Harvard in that area reopened at about 3:45 p.m.
