Covering coastal Douglas County:
Staff with the City of Reedsport say they were contacted on Sunday regarding a sewage overflow near the 100 block of 10th Street. A City release said Wastewater staff removed debris from the sewer line which caused the overflow. Then they cleaned the area, and posted signage as required for a minimum of 24 hours. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality was also notified about the incident as was Oregon Emergency Spill Response.
The release said that clean-up was successful so no stormwater or surface water contamination is expected. Staff is performing stormwater coliform testing in the storm water conveyance system as an extra monitoring and assessment measure.
