UTILITY WARNS OF SCAM

Staff with Douglas Electric Cooperative are warning of a scam.
Member Services Director Todd Munsey said some members have received phone calls stating that Douglas Electric has merged with Pacific Power and that someone will be showing up to replace the power meter. Munsey said no merger has taken place. He said the scammer may show up at a home or business and attempt to pressure a customer into paying in cash for the new meter. He said sometimes scammers show up in pairs and while one is distracting a customer, the second person will attempt to steal property.
Munsey said anyone with questions or concerns can call Douglas Electric at 673-6616.
