BIG CROWD HONORS VETERANS IN ROSEBURG

A big crowd turned out to honor veterans in Roseburg on Monday.

Billed as Oregon’s Greatest Veterans Day Parade, the event attracted young and not so young alike to downtown Roseburg.  “Parade” Q: sfx fade (start talking after five seconds) (:20)
A trumpeter got the parade started, on Jackson Street next to the Roseburg Public Library. The route went south to Lane then headed north on Main, before ending at the Douglas County Courthouse.

Floats included veterans from various eras along with many groups showing their support. Student and church groups marched, horses paraded through town and many people walked carrying signs. Near the start of the route, elementary children shouted “thank you for your service” as the vets went past. Other kids had the same message which was shared one-on-one to anyone they saw in a uniform.

Pictures from the parade are on the KQEN Facebook page and on www.541radio.com.
