A multi-day sweep of Construction Contractors in southern Oregon found the highest number of license violations in recent history, including a number in Douglas County.
A release from the Oregon Construction Contractors Board said the sweep of 249 jobsites uncovered 63 contractor violations, including 13 instances of working without a license and 8 lead-based paint violations.
CCB Administrator Chris Huntington said it was one of their most successful sweeps both in terms of job sites checked and violations found. The release said the sweep was conducted from October 21st through the 25th in Douglas, Josephine, Jackson, Klamath and Lake counties. Violations were found in eleven cities including thirteen that were found between Roseburg, Sutherlin and Myrtle Creek.
*Three each for working without a license, exempt and working with employees, and no lead-based paint license.
*Two each for non-exempt but without workers comp, and assumed business name not listed on the license.
By law, nearly everyone who builds a home or alters a structure must be licensed by the Construction Contractors Board. Contractors who bid and perform work on homes built before 1978 must have a lead-based paint license.
The release said consumers can protect themselves by hiring contractors with an active CCB number. Contractors licenses can be verified at http://search.ccb.state.or.us/search/
