Four people were taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle accident on Wednesday afternoon on Highway 99 South in front of the Shady Oaks Motel, south of Roseburg.
A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the wreck was reported at about 2:20 p.m. A driver told a deputy he said had stopped on the road while waiting to turn into an auto dealership. He looked in his rearview mirror and saw a pickup coming at him at full speed. The other driver said he had looked down for a moment and then looked back up and saw the vehicle stopped in front of him. The man said he hit the brakes and began to slide, striking the other vehicle.
Both drivers and the two passengers in the vehicle hit, were transported to Mercy Medical Center for complaints of pain. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
