A 20-year old woman was hurt in a single vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon on Highway 138E in the Idleyld Park area.
A report from Oregon State Police said the sedan was headed westbound when the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve. The vehicle left the right shoulder of the roadway, veered back across both lanes of travel, and exited the eastbound shoulder of the road. The report said the vehicle traveled approximately 70 feet down a steep embankment and came to rest on its side after striking a boulder just prior to the river.
The driver was transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment of what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. She was listed in serious condition at last check by a hospital spokesperson. The driver was issued warnings for failure to drive within a lane and for operation of an unsafe vehicle.
