LEAF COLLECTION BEGINS NOVEMBER 4TH

October 25, 2019 9:30 a.m.
The City of Roseburg Public Works Department will begin its leaf collection program on Monday November 4th.
A release from the department said pick up will start in the Laurelwood neighborhood and move in a clockwise direction. This route will be repeated until the end of the pickup period in early January. It will take between two and four weeks to make one complete cycle of the city limits, depending on the quantity of leaves.
The release said crews follow a systematic route to ensure an effective cost-controlled program. Since area sizes and leave quantities vary, specific dates and times for picking up leaves on any particular street cannot be given. Leaves are not to be placed in the street gutter, ditches, bike lanes, too close to parked vehicles or on top of catch basins. The release said residents could be responsible for any hazards they create for others by the placement of their leaves. People that put leaves in the City’s right-of-way are responsible to keep drainage structures clear of leaves during rainstorms until leaves can be picked up.
City residents who would like to have one or more loads of leaves delivered to their property, should call Public Works at 492-6730. The minimum amount is one dump truck load.
The release said City crews will not pick up anything else except leaves that have been raked and piled up. The resident or property owner must remove any leaves or debris out of the right-of-way that are picked up by January 3rd.
