Dr. Randy Moore, the Medical Director and a practicing Radiation Oncologist at the Community Cancer Center in Roseburg, has received an Honorable Mention for the Oregon Rural Health Hero of the Year Award from the Oregon Health Sciences University Office of Rural Health.
A release from the Community Cancer Center said the award honors an outstanding person, program, or organization that has improved the quality and availability of health care in rural communities.
Tammy Turner, Executive Director of the CCC said “Dr. Moore’s contributions to improving the quality of life for rural Oregonians are extensive”. Turner said “not only is he an exceptional physician and respected specialist in his field, he brings a high level of empathy to every patient he serves”.
The release said in his work, Dr. Moore has risen above and beyond most in his field by visiting patients and their families at their homes in times of their greatest need, as well as leading financial relief efforts for those in financial distress. Turner said Moore has “worked tirelessly over the past decade to bring radiation oncologists to our community”. She said “we are extremely fortunate to have a physician of Dr. Moore’s caliber in our community and we are grateful for all he has accomplished”.
Dr. Moore will be receiving his award at a staff luncheon on October 16th at the Community Cancer Center.
