VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE APPROACHES FOR LIMITED SPECIAL ELECTION

October 10, 2019 4:00 a.m.
The voter registration deadline is approaching for this November’s Special Election.
A release from Douglas County Clerk Daniel Loomis said the election will only involve registered voters in the Tenmile Rural Fire District and the City of Reedsport.
Fire District residents will consider a five-year local option levy that would pay for hiring a full time Chief and Paramedic, along with paying for administrative costs, by raising between $68,000 and $70,000 per year.
In Reedsport, voters will decide whether to amend the City Charter to remove the restriction on utility rate adjustments not exceeding three percent annually.
The deadline to register is next Tuesday October 15th. Ballots for the two districts will be mailed on October 17th. Registered voters that have not received their ballots by Monday October 28th should contact the Elections Office.
Ballots must be returned by 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday November 15th.
Contact the Elections Office in room 124 of the courthouse or call 440-4252 for more information.
