AUDUBON TO HOST SPEAKER ON FLAMMULATED OWLS

The Umpqua Valley Audubon Society will host a biologist to speak on the topic of “Phantom of the Opterans – the Flammulated Owl” on Wednesday night.
Leon Powers, PhD. Is Professor Emeritus at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. In addition to various biology courses, he taught Birds of Prey classes for 30 years. He is currently a nature writer and author of nonfiction books.
A release from Audubon said Dr. Powers will provide an up-close and personal look into the life and trials of this tiny and seldom-seen owl and why it is his top choice for “Who’s Whoo of Northwest Owls”.
The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Ford Room of the Roseburg Public Library.
