A Roseburg man was jailed on motor vehicle charges in the parking lot of a business on Northeast Stephens on Saturday morning.
Information from the Roseburg Police said at 9:00 a.m. a citizen called advising that the man was inside a vehicle thought to be abandoned on the property. An officer contacted 30-year old Levi Gilliland who was banging on the doors of Umpqua Auction. A subsequent investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen. The owner was contacted and advised he did not know the suspect nor had he given him permission to use the vehicle. The vehicle had been damaged due to Gilliland allegedly tampering with the steering column, according to the report.
Gilliland was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle and for second degree criminal mischief. He was detained on $62,500 bail.
