Covering Coastal Douglas County:
With fire season over, burning within the Reedsport city limits is now allowed but permits are required.
The Reedsport Volunteer Fire Department’s Burn Permit Officer continues to monitor all burning inside the City to ensure that all burning is done on authorized days. That is to meet local, state and federal guidelines, and to control smoke intrusion.
Those who plan to burn should call City Hall at 541-271-3603 during normal weekday business hours. City staff will ask for a name and phone number and someone from the Fire Department will contact the resident. In most cases, contact will be made the same day.
The Burn Permit Officer will make an appointment to look at what is planned to be burned and then issue a permit. There is no charge for this service. Permitted burning in Reedsport includes the use of burn barrels and debris burns. Burning of household garbage is strictly prohibited.
