A woman was hurt when a commercial motor vehicle hit the tire of a bicycle being pushed alongside Interstate Five southbound near the summit of Rice Hill on Monday night.
A report from Oregon State Police said just before 8:30 p.m. the commercial vehicle driver saw a female pedestrian on the left shoulder near the concrete median. He said as he got closer, he saw the female push her bicycle out into the lane of travel at an angle. He said the female was into the slow lane by the time he could react. The report said the driver swerved to avoid the female but the front passenger’s side bumper hit the rear tire on the bicycle. The female was knocked down and injured. She was taken to Mercy Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. She was listed in serious condition at last check.
