LOST TENMILE MAN FOUND NEAR BONE MOUNTAIN

September 23, 2019 10:40 a.m.
A lost man from Tenmile who was hiking on Saturday afternoon was located near the Douglas and Coos County border.
Information from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office said at about 12:45 p.m. a man called 911 and said he was lost in the woods and was not certain where he was. Using 911 GPS information from his call, Deputies from CCSO assisted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Winston Police, found Cameron Sullivan on Weyerhaeuser property in the Lake Creek Drainage near Bone Mountain.
The CCSO release said the 24-year old was laying in steep and rugged terrain on a hillside. There was no clear access to Sullivan, but deputies were able to communicate with him by yelling back and forth. It was determined that Sullivan was injured, and could not hike out on his own.
Coos County Search and Rescue Teams were activated and responded to the scene. Bridge Fire, along with Myrtle Point Fire, and Ambulance also responded to assist.
A Coos County Deputy along with ambulance personnel hiked to the man’s location to assess his condition. A Coast Guard helicopter arrived and was able to extract Sullivan from the hillside. He was transported back to Roseburg by the helicopter. He was treated and released from Mercy Medical Center.
Gabriel Fabrizio from the CCSO said he believes the man left Highway 42 about 6 miles into Coos County. He said the area is undeveloped but popular for hunting and fishing.
