Douglas County Commissioners will interview the applicants for the position of Interim County Clerk, on Wednesday.
The deadline to apply for the job was Friday. The applicants are Rosemarie Wess, Andrew Taylor, and Daniel Loomis. Wess and Taylor both currently work in the Clerk’s Office. Wess is the chief deputy clerk while Taylor is the office manager. Loomis is the Workforce Development Manager for the Umpqua Economic Development Partnership.
The interviews will begin at 2:30 p.m. in room 216 of the Douglas County Courthouse. Commissioners are expected to announce the appointment of the Interim County Clerk on October 2nd. The person selected will serve until the end of 2020.
Voters will elect the next clerk in the 2020 elections. The person voted in will begin the job at the start of 2021. Loomis is the only candidate to file for the position so far.
Douglas County Clerk Patricia Hitt recently announced that she plans to retire at the end of this month.
