Today is the final day to apply for the position of Interim Douglas County Clerk.
Last month Clerk Patricia Hitt announced her plan to retire at the end of September. That’s fifteen months before her term was set to expire.
The interim appointment will serve until the end of 2020. An application must be filled out to be considered for the job. It is due by 5:00 p.m.
Applications will be evaluated over a five-day review period. Next Wednesday, applicants will be able to discuss their application during the Board of Commissioner’s regular weekly business meeting and public comment will be taken. It is anticipated that the Interim County Clerk will be appointed on October 2nd.
An official County Clerk will be elected by voters in the 2020 elections.
